wow... people are still adding comments to this thread! i'll add my $0.02 then: i bought a Dynex E402 wired router a few weeks ago, had 2 days of frustration trying to get it to work, then finally somehow did the exact right series of steps in the right order, and the damn thing worked. i thought my problems were solved, although the router did slow down internet access to a disappointing degree. not sure if that's a constant with any router or if some are better than others, but anyway i was happy for a few days. then, i moved some furniture around and had to unplug my DSL modem from the wall. stupidly, i did not disconnect the power supply from the modem or power down the router. when i put everything back together, the router just would not work. the process that worked previously didn't help. no amount of trial & error produced any results. finally, i called dynex customer support. the CSR guided me through the exact same process that I had tried dozens of times over the last few days, then when she got to the point where (i thought) she was about to ask me for the results of ipconfig /all, the line went silent. the call stayed connected for a minute or so and then ended. the clueless CSR put me on hold, then hung up on me, rather than admit that the product is crappy and there was nothing she could do! which suggests to me that their customers running out of time to return/exchange a bum product and getting stuck with it, is a significant revenue stream for dynex. i just got home from returning the router to best buy, and i vow today to never shop there again.

Just got a Dynex 1.3 MP to work with Skype on a MacMini 10.4.11.

Keys:

Nothing comes on the CD nor at their website for 1.3 MP and OS X. You have to go to a different, discontinued webcam and download its driver. (I probably downloaded this by mistake, a happy mistake)
http://www.dynexproducts.com/p-459-dynex-desktop-web-camera.aspx
Look for Dynex Webcam:Dynex Driver OS X.10:Dynex Driver OSX 1.01.dmg in the downloaded driver. IIRC, there's a note which says this is only for 10.4.9 and up. Double-click on Dynex Driver OSX 1.01:Dynex Driver Install.pkg to install and then reboot.

Macam doesn't support Dynex.

The video only works on one app at a time. If you're playing with the camera in 'WebCam Support' (an unmarked app, I'm not sure if it appeared after the Dynex or Macam install attempts), it won't show up as a source elsewhere.

You really expect that a guy with 3 weeks of training in basic troubleshoothing (reinstall, restart pc... thats it) who is supposed to handle 1000 different products (we get trained in about 20) to actually KNOW how to fix something.
We are just happy when the call doesnt end with the customer yelling at us or asking for a sup call.
People read the manual, thats what we do, thats ALL we do, we try the TBs from the manual and then a reinstall and thats it...

Go to control panel/System/Device manager/Imaging devices

Right click "update driver software"

Select "browse my computer"

Select "let me pick from a list"

Select "Dynex WebCam"

Does anyone know where to get the driver for the dynex 5-in-1 memory card. the disc they gave me doesn't work..does it? It's too small for the internal cd reader.

I can not speak english so good, but this place has visited for very intelligent people. Let me tell you somethings:

1. Dinex Web Cam instructions are trash, incomplete and poor. Dynex support really -really- sucks.

2.Thanks to Jen and John. Especially thanks to Carlos "waffles". Their explications were very clear, simply and sucessfull. Finally, after months of anger, I can make the cam works... with a litlle help from my friends.

3. Thanks again for Jen, John and Carlos. They made me very happy.

4. Thanks a lot.

5. Thanks again and forever.
