thanks for the chuckle. your blog post just popped up in a google search for documentation on upstart. as the submitter of the bug in question, i can assure you that when i received that reply, my reaction was pretty much the same as yours. "wow."

and isn't it ironic that two years after that bug, i'm still looking for documentation...

Hi. Restart of my PowerBook running OS X 10.5.8 allowed Skype to recognize the Dynex DX-DTCAM. As suggested above, I first installed the Mac driver via http://www.dynexproducts.com/pc-459-25-dynex-desktop-web-camera.aspx . After install and restart, I checked for the camera under Skype/Preferences/Video - Camera. Hope it works for you. Cheers.

perllocal.pod holds info on modules added locally to one's Perl installation, and is appended to whenever a module is installed using a Makefile. In the context of a Debian package for a module, this file has no purpose; the package manager takes on this responsibility.

Some extra work is required to stop this file from being added to the Debian package. This comment makes allusions without showing how:

It's probably just as simple as a "rm $(SOMEWHERE)/perllocal.pod" call in the right place though.
